The bakery and confectionery sector in Alagoas, Brazil, has seen a significant rise in business openings. According to data from the Junta Comercial do Estado de Alagoas (Juceal), new business registrations in this sector grew by 48.59% over a two-year period.

Comparing the 2025-2026 period to 2023-2024, 1,266 new businesses were established, up from 852 in the previous two years. The most notable growth occurred in the manufacturing of bakery and confectionery products with a predominance of in-house production, which saw a 63.64% increase.

Currently, there are 5,194 registered companies related to bakeries and confectionery in the state. Maceió leads with 2,546 businesses, followed by Arapiraca with 419.
