Alagoas Court upholds convictions of officers in Davi da Silva case

The Court of Justice of Alagoas (TJAL) has unanimously denied an appeal by the defense of four police officers convicted in the disappearance and death of 17-year-old Davi da Silva. The officers—Vitor Rafael Martins da Silva, Eudecir Gomes de Lima, Carlos Eduardo Ferreira dos Santos, and Nayara Silva de Andrade—were found guilty of torture, kidnapping, false imprisonment, qualified homicide, and concealing a corpse.

The court upheld the sentences established by the Jury Tribunal, which include prison terms ranging from approximately 21 to 28 years. According to the Public Ministry of Alagoas, the three military police officers have lost their positions, and Nayara Silva de Andrade is barred from holding any public office. The case dates back to August 2014, when the teenager disappeared after being intercepted by police in Maceió.
