Alagoas election budget exceeds 14 billion reais for 2026 vote

The Tribunal Regional Eleitoral of Alagoas (TRE‑AL) estimates that organizing the 2026 elections will require R$ 14,011,764.00 in discretionary spending. Of this amount, R$ 13,773,964.00 is allocated to operational expenses for the electoral process and R$ 237,800.00 is earmarked for preventive maintenance of electronic voting machines.

The budget covers logistics for 8,073 electronic voting machines that must be delivered to 102 municipalities to serve more than 2.4 million registered voters. It also funds personnel costs, transportation, fuel, vehicle rentals, and a meal allowance of R$ 65 per poll worker. The first round of voting is scheduled for 4 October, when Alagoans will elect the president of Brazil, the state governor, two senators, nine federal deputies and 27 state deputies.

These expenditures have been submitted to the Superior Electoral Court as part of the financial planning by the Coordination of Planning and Budget and the Secretariat of Planning, Budget, Finance and Accounting of the Electoral Justice.
