Alagoas Electoral Court orders removal of unregistered polling data

The Regional Electoral Court of Alagoas (TRE-AL) has ordered the removal of a social media post on Instagram that displayed electoral polling results attributed to AtlasIntel regarding the race for the Governor of Alagoas.

Judge Léo Denisson Bezerra de Almeida issued the decision after a preliminary analysis revealed that the survey, which claimed to have conducted 1,600 interviews between August 28 and 31, was not registered in PesqEle, the official platform used by the Electoral Justice to track polling data. Under Brazilian electoral law, all public opinion polls concerning elections or candidates must be registered before they are released to ensure transparency and allow for oversight.

The court noted that this is a precautionary measure and does not constitute a definitive conclusion regarding the authenticity of the data. The judge clarified that the absence of a registration in the official system does not, by itself, prove that fraud, falsification, or manipulation of the results occurred.
