Alagoas GDP projected to rise through 2026 and 2027

A study by Santander’s Economic Department projects that the GDP of Alagoas will grow by 1.7% in 2026 and 1.2% in 2027. These figures align with broader economic trends expected for Brazil and the Northeast region.

The service sector, which accounted for 53% of Alagoas's GDP in 2023, is expected to grow by 1.9% in 2026 and 1.1% in 2027. While economists note a potential deceleration due to financial constraints, a robust labor market remains a supporting factor.

Industry is also projected to contribute to this growth, with expected increases of 1.5% in 2026 and 1% in 2027. Additionally, Alagoas is expected to see growth in the agricultural sector—projected at 1.2% for 2026 and 1.5% for 2027—contrasting with several other Northeastern states that may face a contraction in that sector.
