Alagoas Governor orders investigation into threats against Barra de Santo Antônio Mayor

Alagoas Governor Paulo Dantas has ordered the State Secretariat of Public Security (SSP) and the Civil Police to immediately investigate allegations of threats and attacks against the Mayor of Barra de Santo Antônio, Lívia Carla, and her two teenage children.

The investigation follows social media posts and statements attributed to the former vice-mayor, Kleber Malta. According to the Governor, Malta made sexually explicit comments regarding the Mayor’s daughter, suggesting that municipal benefits or positions could be obtained through pregnancy or relationships with her family members. The Governor also noted that Malta allegedly exposed images of the Mayor’s children and issued direct threats against her.

Governor Dantas characterized the actions not as political criticism, but as criminal acts, including gender-based political violence, threats, and the exposure of minors. The state government intends to report the findings to the Public Ministry and the Alagoas Judiciary.
