Carlinhos Maia apologizes after police vehicle used in reality show filming

Three military police officers in Alagoas, Brazil, were administratively detained and subsequently released following an investigation into the use of an official vehicle during a digital reality show production. The incident occurred at the ‘Rancho do Maia’ in Ipioca, Maceió, when a police cruiser appeared in a video clip for the influencer Carlinhos Maia.

Maia clarified that he did not request or authorize the presence of the police for the recording. He described the situation as an act of ‘naivety’ and ‘stupidity,’ explaining that the officers were performing routine patrols due to large crowds in the area. According to his defense, the officers were polite, and a participant in the show was placed in the vehicle during a spontaneous interaction after the officers expressed admiration for his work.

The Polícia Militar de Alagoas (PMAL) launched an internal investigation through its Corregedoria-Geral to determine if there was any misuse of public resources or professional misconduct. While the officers have been released from administrative detention, they remain suspended from their duties pending the final results of the inquiry. Maia has publicly apologized to the institution, emphasizing his respect for the police force.
