Alagoas suspends police recruitment exam and shuts down illegal surveillance network

The Alagoas State Secretariat of Planning, Management and Heritage (SEPLAG/AL) and the Alagoas Military Police (PMAL) halted the public competition for soldier and staff officer positions after a Supreme Federal Court (STF) injunction restored a prior popular action, suspending all exam stages, including the objective and essay tests scheduled for 30 August.

In a separate operation, the Alagoas State Public Security Secretariat (SSP/AL) dismantled a clandestine surveillance system installed on electric poles by criminal groups. The coordinated raid removed dozens of high‑resolution cameras and related equipment, with technical support from the utility Equatorial Alagoas, and continues investigations to identify those responsible.
