Alagoas tourism grows as Maceió hotel bookings rise

The tourism sector in Alagoas is showing significant activity as Maceió reports 60% of hotel reservations already secured for the 2026/2027 New Year's Eve period. This early demand follows a trend of growth in the state's tourism industry, which contributed R$ 3.64 billion to the state's GDP in 2022. The available lodging capacity has also increased, growing from 48,000 beds in 2023 to an estimated 54,000 in 2025.

Regarding coastal conditions, the Environmental Institute of Alagoas (IMA/AL) released its weekly water quality report for 68 beach sections. While 60 sections were deemed suitable for swimming, eight were classified as unsuitable. The unsuitable areas include four sections in the capital, Maceió, and three locations in Maragogi on the North Coast. In the South Coast, only Praia do Saco was identified as unsuitable for bathing.
