Alain Afflelou announced a summer promotion in Portugal, offering AI‑powered progressive lenses that use Rodenstock technology at a 50 % discount for the 2026 season. The lenses adapt to biometric and behavioural data for smoother near, intermediate and distance vision, and the offer includes a magnetic clip‑on solar module that converts the glasses into UV‑protected sunglasses. The promotion is available at the Anadia shopping centre store and the Madeira Shopping location.

Separately, Portuguese retailer MultiOpticas issued safety guidance for people wearing glasses or contact lenses during the summer months. The advice warns against swimming with contact lenses, recommends daily disposable lenses, and stresses that lenses should never be cleaned with tap water. For glasses, the firm advises cleaning with a microfiber cloth, protecting frames from sand and prolonged heat, and using certified UV‑blocking sunglasses to guard against long‑term eye damage.
