Alakh Pandey becomes India’s youngest billionaire

Alakh Pandey, a 33-year-old educator, has become India’s youngest billionaire with a net worth of $1.5 billion, according to Forbes as of October 16, 2026. Pandey’s rise began after he dropped out of university during his third year of engineering studies.

In 2014, he launched a YouTube channel, ‘Physics Wallah-Alakh Pandey’, providing free physics lessons. The channel grew to nearly 14 million subscribers due to his engaging teaching style, which utilizes humor and relatable real-world examples to explain complex concepts. This approach helped him reach students who could not afford expensive coaching services.

Pandey co-founded the online education platform PhysicsWallah in 2020. His billionaire status follows the successful initial public offering (IPO) of the startup in November 2025.
