Alamein International Airport sees 57% passenger surge ahead of EIAS 2026

The Alamein International Airport reported a 57% increase in passenger traffic in 2026, reaching 266,600 travelers compared with 169,500 in 2025. Aircraft movements also rose about 26% to 3,190 flights, up from 2,540 the previous year.

The growth is linked to Egypt’s effort to expand civil aviation capacity and to prepare for the second edition of the International Air and Space Exhibition (EIAS 2026) slated for September 2026. The airport now serves 15 airlines, including Etihad, FlyDubai, Flynas, Air Caire and Saudia, and expects the number to rise to 26 carriers by the end of the summer season, adding new routes from Romania, Poland, Bulgaria and Gulf airlines.

These developments are part of a broader state plan to transform the New Alamein city into a global tourism and business hub, coordinated with the Ministry of Defense, the Air Force and the Egyptian Space Agency.
