Alamos Gold cuts Q2 output forecast after seismic events and power outage at Young‑Davidson
Alamos Gold announced that recent seismic events at its Young‑Davidson mine in Matachewan, Ontario, have damaged infrastructure and limited access to higher‑grade stopes. No injuries were reported, but the incidents, together with a storm‑related power outage that caused three days of unplanned downtime, reduced mining rates.
Because of the reduced production and higher operating costs, the company revised its second‑quarter gold output guidance to between 130,000 and 135,000 ounces, a 12% cut from its prior estimate. Alamos Gold expects to average about 5,000 tonnes per day for the remainder of the year, while implementing additional ground‑support measures and optimizing the mining sequence to improve rates in the second half of 2026. Further updates will be provided with its Q2 financial results in late July.
