Alan Boulton pleads guilty to possessing child abuse material
Alan Boulton, a 76-year-old former senior member of the Fair Work Commission, has pleaded guilty to two counts of possessing child abuse material. The charges arose after Boulton “inadvertently displayed” inappropriate images during a lecture at Monash University in February 2025.
Following the incident, police conducted investigations at Boulton’s residences in Middle Park, Melbourne, and Sydney, seizing electronic devices. Prosecutors withdrew a previous charge regarding sexual activity with a child outside of Australia. Boulton, a former lawyer for the Australian Council of Trade Unions who served as a senior deputy president of the Fair Work Commission until 2015, remains on bail with residency restrictions.
A pre-sentence hearing is scheduled for March 5 at the Victorian County Court.
