Alan Jones faces trial for alleged indecent assault

Retired broadcaster Alan Jones is appearing in Sydney’s Downing Centre Local Court for a trial involving allegations of indecent assault and sexual touching. Jones has pleaded not guilty to 21 charges involving five male complainants between 2003 and 2020.

The fifth and final accuser, a man who was 17 at the time of the alleged incident, testified that Jones kissed him and grabbed his buttocks at the broadcaster’s Fitzroy Falls property. The complainant stated that he had previously viewed Jones as a mentor and confidante, having communicated with him since age 13 regarding his family’s financial hardships. Court proceedings revealed that Jones had previously provided upwards of $90,000 to assist the complainant’s family with their difficulties.

During his testimony, the complainant described feeling “very uncomfortable” after the alleged encounter and stated he recoiled from the broadcaster. Jones has continuously denied all allegations of kissing or groping the complainants.
