Alan Jones stands trial over 22 indecent assault charges

Alan Jones, the 85-year-old retired radio broadcaster, is standing trial in Sydney’s Downing Centre Local Court facing 22 counts of indecent assault and two counts of sexual touching. Jones has pleaded not guilty to all allegations made by six male complainants involving incidents occurring between 2003 and 2023.

During court proceedings, a complainant identified as “C” testified that Jones repeatedly kissed and groped him, including at a restaurant in Mosman and within a vehicle. A witness testified that C appeared “distraught,” “in shock,” and “devastated” following an incident where Jones allegedly touched him under a table at a lunch.

Under cross-examination by barrister Gabrielle Bashir SC, C denied that he had sought legal advice to pursue a lawsuit and disputed claims that he could have easily pushed Jones away during an alleged incident in a lift. Additionally, a former radio staffer denied allegations that his report of abuse was motivated by a professional rivalry between Jones and fellow broadcaster Ray Hadley.
