Alan Lee Donnelly charged after meth seizure on New England Highway

Alan Lee Donnelly, 40, has been charged with supplying a commercial quantity of a prohibited drug following a police search on the New England Highway.

The incident began on October 7, when officers conducting a patrol at Willow Tree, on the Liverpool Plains, stopped a sedan. During the search of the vehicle and its occupants—a 40-year-old man and a 37-year-old woman—police allegedly discovered two large bags of methylamphetamine and a small amount of cannabis. While both occupants were initially released pending further inquiries, Donnelly was arrested at Tamworth Police Station on October 19.

Donnelly appeared in bail court on October 20, where he was refused release. He is currently being held in custody while police compile a brief of evidence and is scheduled to return to Tamworth Local Court in December.
