Alan Ritchson in talks to lead Sony’s Helldivers film

Alan Ritchson, known for the series ‘Reacher’, is in negotiations to star in Sony Pictures’ live-action film adaptation of the video game ‘Helldivers’. Ritchson would be stepping into the lead role following the departure of Jason Momoa from the project earlier this year, reportedly due to creative differences.

Directed by Justin Lin, the film is a production of Sony Pictures and PlayStation Productions. It is based on the popular franchise from Arrowhead Game Studios, which follows elite soldiers defending Super Earth in an intergalactic war. The film is currently scheduled for a theatrical release on November 10, 2027.

Separately, Ritchson has addressed recent controversies regarding his public political remarks. He claimed that major studios, including Sony, have contacted him requesting that he refrain from discussing politics in public. Additionally, the actor revealed that a planned adaptation of the ‘Reacher’ novel ‘Die Trying’ was previously approved but was ultimately shelved, suggesting the decision was influenced by the shifting political climate in the United States.
