Newcastle United to face Coventry City in Premier League clash

Newcastle United is set to face Coventry City at the Coventry Building Society Arena on Monday, October 12, following the international break. Newcastle currently sits 9th in the Premier League with eight points, while Coventry occupies 19th place with three points.

Coventry, managed by Frank Lampard, enters the match with momentum after a 1-0 away victory against Nottingham Forest. However, the club has struggled defensively, conceding ten goals in their first five matches. Key absences for Coventry include Taiwo Awoniyi, who is serving a suspension, and Aurele Amenda due to injury.

Newcastle, under manager Matthias Jaissle, recently secured a 2-1 win over Hull City. While the team has shown offensive strength, they have also faced defensive vulnerabilities. The squad is dealing with several injury concerns; while Nico Gonzalez is expected to be available after clearing concussion protocol, players like Dan Burn, Anthony Elanga, and Jacob Ramsey remain doubtful for immediate starts.
