Alanis Morissette discusses postpartum depression and new projects

Singer Alanis Morissette has shared candid details regarding her struggles with postpartum depression (PPD) following the births of her three children. During an appearance on the ‘Call Her Daddy’ podcast with host Alex Cooper, the Canadian artist described her experiences as ‘postpartum activity,’ noting that the condition felt more intense than standard depression.

Morissette revealed that her symptoms, including invasive thoughts, anxiety, and extreme rage, became increasingly severe with each subsequent pregnancy. She stated that she ‘dipped into psychosis’ following the birth of her youngest child in 2019 and described feeling a loss of control and a sense of being misunderstood by others. She also noted the difficulty of managing these mental health challenges while maintaining a professional touring schedule.

In addition to discussing her mental health, Morissette announced upcoming musical projects. She is preparing for a Los Angeles residency titled ‘Butterfly With a Machete’ and revealed her first holiday album, which will feature a collaboration with actor Martin Short on a Judy Garland classic.
