Alanis Morissette sues former tour manager for alleged extortion

Singer Alanis Morissette has filed a lawsuit in a California federal court against her former tour manager, Keren Urinov, alleging a “calculated blackmail campaign.” The lawsuit includes claims of civil extortion, fraud, and negligent misrepresentation.

The legal dispute stems from an incident in 2025 when Urinov was detained at a United Kingdom airport while traveling with the singer to Spain. According to the filing, authorities discovered marijuana and xylazine in Urinov’s bag. While Urinov was reportedly released after presenting an Israeli medical marijuana license, she allegedly informed Morissette that she had been arrested and that authorities had issued a seizure notice.

Morissette alleges that Urinov subsequently sent “increasingly extortionate” letters, threatening to accuse the singer of drug trafficking unless Morissette signed a 15-year employment contract. The proposed contract would have provided Urinov with an income equivalent to a tour director, including annual increases and bonuses. Morissette is seeking a jury trial and requesting $75,000 in damages, along with penalties.
