Alanis Morissette sues former tour manager for extortion
Singer Alanis Morissette has filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles federal court against her former tour manager, Keren Urinov, alleging civil extortion, fraud, and negligent misrepresentation.
The dispute stems from a July 2025 incident at Farnborough Airport in the United Kingdom. According to the complaint, Urinov—a former Live Nation Israel executive—was detained by the British Border Force after a bag containing marijuana and xylazine was flagged for inspection. Morissette alleges that while Urinov initially claimed ownership of the bag and presented an Israeli medical marijuana license, she later threatened to falsely report that the drugs belonged to the singer.
The lawsuit claims Urinov used these threats to demand a 15-year employment contract as a tour director, which would include significant compensation, annual raises, and bonuses. Morissette’s legal team stated the singer refused to succumb to a ‘calculated blackmail campaign’ and filed the suit to hold Urinov accountable. The filing also notes previous logistical issues, including a $70,000 hotel booking error attributed to Urinov.
