Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat University completes first mango harvest
Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat University (ALKÜ) has completed its first mango harvest at the Tropical Fruit Research and Application Greenhouse. Located at the Kestel Campus, the greenhouse was established by the Department of Biosystems Engineering within the Rafet Kayış Faculty of Engineering to research the cultivation of tropical and subtropical species suitable for regional climate conditions.
University Rector Prof. Dr. Kenan Ahmet Türkdoğan inspected the facility and participated in the harvest. He noted that the university conducts scientific research across agriculture, technology, health, sports, and education, sharing findings with local farmers to support regional agriculture. The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry is reportedly monitoring these developments.
In addition to mangoes, the greenhouse is being used to cultivate other high-value economic crops, including avocado, dragon fruit, coffee, and banana, to study their development and yield potential in the Alanya region.
