Alanya Chamber Head Eray Erdem Calls for Extending Turkey’s FX Conversion Support
Alanya Trade and Industry Chamber (ALTSO) Chairman Eray Erdem asked Turkish authorities to prolong the foreign‑exchange conversion support that currently ends on 31 July 2026. Speaking at a meeting organised by the Turkish Employers’ Union (TOBB) in Ankara, Erdem said the scheme is vital for firms that earn foreign currency and convert it to lira, noting that its expiry would create uncertainty for exporters and service‑exporting tourism businesses.
He urged that the tourism sector, which he described as a “locomotive of Turkish tourism”, be exempted from foreign‑currency loan restrictions and offered a sector‑specific model. Erdem also called for revisions to expert appraisal limits, BDR and JCR credit thresholds, lower reporting costs and faster processing. He highlighted the importance of the support for production, export and employment, stating, "Bu uygulamanın devam etmesi, üretim, ihracat ve istihdamın desteklenmesi açısından büyük önem taşıyor". In the same meeting, Alanya’s keçiboynuzu was announced as Antalya’s product for the national "Anadoludakiler: 81 İl 81 Ürün" programme.
