Alanya hospital treats premature baby with intestinal obstruction

A premature baby named Avad has been discharged from Alanya Training and Research Hospital in Antalya, Turkey, after a successful two-month recovery period. Born at 32 weeks and weighing 1.6 kilograms, the infant was diagnosed with jejunal atresia, a congenital small bowel obstruction.

Following the diagnosis, pediatric surgeons Dr. İsmail Özmen and Dr. Gizem Özdemir Kenar performed a successful operation. The baby was subsequently monitored in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, where medical teams managed complications related to prematurity, including feeding and digestive issues.

Professor Birgül Livaoğlu Say, a neonatology specialist at Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat University, noted that the multidisciplinary team provided intensive care to address both the intestinal obstruction and the risks associated with premature birth.
