Alanya hosts strategic workshop for carob production
A strategic workshop was held in Alanya, Antalya, to shape the future of local carob production and enhance its economic impact. Organized by the Alanya Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ALTSO) in collaboration with BAKA and the Alanya Carob Producers Association, the event was part of the “Anadoludakiler: 81 Provinces 81 Products Program” coordinated by the Ministry of Industry and Technology.
Participants discussed production processes, branding potential, and strategies for accessing new markets. Mustafa Tuna, President of ALTSO, emphasized that carob is highly suitable for the region's soil and climate, noting its advantage of requiring less water than many other agricultural products. The goal is to transform carob from a traditional crop into a high-value economic asset through cooperation between academics, producers, and the business community.
Duran Yılmaz, President of the Alanya Carob Producers Association, stated that the workshop aims to identify specific value-added products. This development is expected to benefit the entire value chain, allowing producers to offer higher quality goods at better prices while increasing profitability for traders.
