Turkey reports multiple violent crimes and legal disputes

Several violent incidents and legal developments have been reported across Turkey. In Samsun, Meryem Aydın has appealed to Justice Minister Akın Gürlek to reopen a 30-year-old cold case involving the 1996 murder of her father, Hamit Geyik, who was stabbed while working as a night watchman.

In Alanya, a man identified as Mustafa E. was detained after stabbing his wife and mother-in-law. Following the attack, he climbed a five-story building and attempted suicide while broadcasting live on social media. Both victims remain in critical condition.

In Ankara, a legal controversy has emerged regarding a police officer, Yasin Çakmak, who was sentenced to four years and two months for attacking his wife, Fatma Çakmak, during their divorce proceedings. The court applied reductions for unjust provocation and good conduct, leading to his release. The victim, who required 60 stitches for facial injuries, had previously sought up to 15.5 years of imprisonment for the perpetrator.

Additionally, in Nicosia, a man was arrested for threatening his mother with scissors during a dispute involving a family member.
