Alanya market flooded by heavy rainfall
Heavy rainfall in the Alanya district of Antalya caused significant flooding at the Saturday market in the Mahmutlar neighborhood. The downpour caused water to flow from the sloped areas of the market, carrying debris such as paper, plastic bags, and vegetable waste. This debris blocked the manholes, causing water levels to rise rapidly across the market area.
Vendors attempted to protect their goods and stalls from the rising water, while shoppers also faced difficulties due to the conditions. Local vendor Celal Yaşar reported that the blockage forced people to wade through deep water. According to Yaşar, vendors eventually had to clear the clogged manholes themselves after receiving no response from the municipal solution desk.
