Turkey utility services face widespread outages and forest fires

Multiple regions across Turkey are facing significant utility disruptions due to scheduled maintenance, infrastructure upgrades, and emergency repairs.

In several provinces, including Van, Muğla, Adana, Eskişehir, Trabzon, and İzmir, planned electricity outages are scheduled for early September. These interruptions are being carried out by various distribution companies to facilitate network improvements, tree trimming, and capacity increases. Some outages are expected to last several hours, affecting numerous neighborhoods and streets.

Water supply disruptions are also reported. In Van, an emergency repair on a 2000 mm diameter pipeline is causing a mandatory four-day water outage across four districts, including Edremit and İpekyolu. Kahramanmaraş is also experiencing planned water cuts in the Onikişubat and Dulkadiroğlu districts for network maintenance. Additionally, Ankara is facing water outages in Kazan, Altındağ, and Etimesgut due to infrastructure works and line damage.

Simultaneously, forest fires in Antalya, Adana, and Mersin have prompted emergency responses. In Antalya, fires in Aksu and Kumluca have threatened residential areas and damaged greenhouses, leading to evacuations and road closures. In Adana's Kozan district, residents have assisted in fighting flames as crews work to contain the blaze.
