Alanya Municipality launches weight control scales in local markets

Alanya Municipality has launched the ‘Güven Terazisi’ (Trust Scale) initiative in local neighborhood markets to enhance consumer protection and transparency. Managed by the Municipal Police Department, the program provides free, high-precision scales at easily accessible locations within market areas.

Citizens can use these scales to re-weigh fruits, vegetables, and other goods purchased from vendors to ensure the weight matches what was charged. This measure aims to prevent grievances caused by incorrect weight measurements and to foster a more reliable shopping environment.

If a discrepancy is discovered, consumers are encouraged to report the issue to the municipal police teams on duty. Following a report, officials conduct on-site inspections of the vendor's scales and products. If a violation of regulations is confirmed, legal action is taken against the merchant. Both consumers and local vendors have expressed satisfaction with the initiative, noting its role in promoting honest trade practices.
