Alanya: Father of three dies after diving into shallow water

Arif Erman, a 39-year-old father of three, died following a diving accident at a hotel pier in the Konakli neighborhood of Alanya, Antalya province, Turkey.

Security footage captured the moment Erman approached the edge of the pier, took a running start, and performed a headfirst dive. Despite warning signs at the location prohibiting diving due to dangerous conditions, Erman struck the seabed, which was reportedly only about 50 centimeters deep. The impact caused a fatal neck injury.

Hotel staff and a lifeguard immediately responded to the incident, performing rescue attempts and transporting him to a hospital. Despite medical efforts, Erman succumbed to his injuries. Turkish authorities have launched an investigation into the circumstances of the accident, including whether the hotel's safety measures and warning signage were sufficient.
