Alarcos Archaeological Park documents over 200 Iberian tombs

The Alarcos Archaeological Park in Ciudad Real has concluded its annual excavation campaign, documenting more than 200 Iberian tombs. Researchers noted that this figure represents only a fraction of the area remaining to be explored.

Project researcher Javier Morales described the campaign as particularly fruitful, resulting in the discovery of numerous tombs and varied funerary goods, including several swords. These findings aim to reconstruct the daily lives and funerary practices of the Iberian communities that inhabited the region.

The site has recently gained international attention following recognition by National Geographic, a development that local officials say helps project the importance of the site beyond the province of Ciudad Real.
