Alas Pilipinas Girls fall to Japan in U17 World Championship

The Alas Pilipinas Girls volleyball team has entered the classification round of the FIVB U17 World Championship in Chile following a series of losses. After a round-of-16 defeat against South Korea, where the Philippines fell in straight sets (21-25, 18-25, 14-25), the team moved into the 13th-16th place classification bracket.

In their most recent classification match, Japan defeated the Philippines in straight sets, 25-23, 25-19, 25-16. Caera Celis led the Philippine side with 16 points, but the team struggled to match Japan's dominance in attacks and service aces. This marked the fourth consecutive defeat for the Filipinas in the tournament.

The Philippines is scheduled to face Venezuela in a rematch during the classification round, having previously lost to the South American side in five sets during pool play. Despite the losses, the team has secured the best finish ever for a Philippine volleyball squad in a World Championship.
