Alaska Airlines to launch new Seattle-Athens and Seattle-Paris routes

Alaska Airlines has announced the launch of two new seasonal nonstop routes from its Seattle hub to Athens, Greece, and Paris, France, scheduled to begin in the summer of 2027.

The Athens service, which begins May 12, 2027, will operate three times weekly and will be the longest flight in the airline’s history. It also marks the first-ever nonstop connection between the Greek capital and the U.S. West Coast. The Paris service will launch on May 25, 2027, operating five times weekly.

Both routes will utilize Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, featuring 34 business-class suites and 266 economy seats. This expansion is part of a broader strategy to transform Seattle into a global gateway, with the airline aiming to operate more than 12 long-haul international destinations from the city by 2030.

To support the launch, the airline has entered a multi-year partnership with Seattle Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold to lead a marketing campaign highlighting the airline’s international growth.
