Alaska braces for early-season snowstorm with up to 3 feet of snow

Alaska is bracing for a powerful early-season winter storm, with snowfall forecasts increasing to between 24 and 36 inches in the eastern Alaska Range. Snowfall totals could potentially be higher above mountain passes.

Significant concerns include strong winds, blowing snow, and reduced visibility, which may lead to dangerous driving conditions. Travel along the Richardson Highway, particularly near Isabel Pass, could become extremely difficult or impassable. While mountain areas face heavy accumulation, Fairbanks may receive significantly less snow.
