Alaska Organized Militia deploys to support Tok wildfire response

Six members of the Alaska Organized Militia have deployed to Tok to support wildfire response efforts. At the request of the State Emergency Operations Center, these members are on State Active Duty to provide disaster response support.

Their assignments include reconnaissance, damage assessments, shelter and mass-care support, and the distribution of food, water, and emergency supplies. This additional manpower is intended to allow the Alaska Complex Incident Management Team to focus firefighting personnel on active suppression operations. The task force includes representatives from the Alaska Army National Guard, Alaska Air National Guard, Alaska State Defense Force, and Alaska Naval Militia.
