Alaska plane crash kills eight near Cape Newenham radar site

A civilian-contracted Cessna 441 charter plane crashed near the Cape Newenham Long Range Radar Site Airport in western Alaska, resulting in the deaths of all eight people on board. The aircraft, which had departed from Anchorage, was believed to have crashed while approaching the remote site, located approximately 450 miles west of Anchorage.

The Eleventh Air Force has identified one of the deceased as 2nd Lt. Leah Borsich, a 23-year-old project programmer with the 611th Civil Engineer Squadron at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson. The victims included two pilots, six passengers, and members of the Army and contractor teams. The crash also involved the Security Aviation aircrew.

The National Transportation Safety Board is conducting an investigation into the cause of the accident. The Alaska State Troopers are responsible for releasing the names of the individuals not affiliated with the Department of War.
