Alaska Thunderf*ck stars in West Coast debut of ‘Oh, Mary!’

The Tony Award-winning play ‘Oh, Mary!’ has made its West Coast debut at the Civic Theatre, featuring Alaska Thunderf*ck in the lead role of Mary Todd Lincoln. The production, a passion project by Cole Escola, is a one-act historical farce that reimagines the weeks leading up to Abraham Lincoln’s assassination.

The play depicts a restless and alcoholic Mary Todd Lincoln who seeks to escape her marriage for a life as a cabaret star. The plot involves Abraham Lincoln attempting to distract his wife by hiring a young actor to provide her with acting lessons, leading to further complications.

Reviews describe the 80-minute performance as a fast-paced, absurdist, and raunchy production that utilizes slapstick and campy humor. The show has transitioned from a successful off-Broadway run to Broadway before embarking on this national tour.
