Alaska weather advisories issued for heavy snow and freezing spray
A wintry pattern is settling over interior and northern Alaska, prompting several weather advisories from the National Weather Service in Fairbanks.
A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for the Eastern Alaska Range, with heavy snow accumulations of 6 to 11 inches expected along the Richardson Highway, specifically between mile markers 205 and 235. The advisory covers areas north and south of Trims Camp, including Black Rapids and Donnelly Dome, lasting through Thursday evening. The Central and Eastern Interior may also see 1 to 3 inches of snow.
Additionally, a Heavy Freezing Spray Warning has been issued for Arctic offshore waters north of Alaska. Shifting winds and cold air are expected to coat vessels in ice from Monday night through Wednesday. While conditions are expected to ease by Thursday, the broader cold pattern continues to impact the Brooks Range and Isabel Pass, where significant snow accumulation is possible through the end of the week.
