Alatri center-right coalition split over mayoral candidate

The center-right coalition in Alatri is facing internal tension regarding the selection of a mayoral candidate to succeed Maurizio Cianfrocca, who has announced he will not seek re-election.

Fratelli d'Italia (FdI) has asserted its right to nominate the candidate, citing its position as the largest party in the coalition. FdI has identified Antonello Iannarilli, a former parliamentarian and current Ater commissioner, as its preferred candidate.

However, the Lega party is resisting this move, insisting on the candidacy of the current deputy mayor and public works assessor, Roberto Addesse. The Lega aims to maintain continuity with the current administration. Meanwhile, Forza Italia has expressed a desire to maintain coalition unity. A recent summit between party secretaries Raffaella Conti (FdI), Emanuele Palmisani (Lega), and Bruno Addesse (Forza Italia) failed to reach a consensus, leaving the leadership dispute unresolved.
