Alba Berlin defeats Bamberg Baskets to reach BBL Cup quarterfinals
Alba Berlin has advanced to the quarterfinals of the BBL Cup after defeating the defending champions, Bamberg Baskets, with a score of 83-71. Despite a difficult first half where Bamberg led by as many as 11 points, Alba Berlin staged a comeback in the third quarter, driven by strong defensive play and improved rebounding.
Justin Bean led the scoring for Berlin with 20 points, while Malte Delow contributed 18 points. The victory serves as revenge for Alba's loss in last season's cup final. The win comes despite significant roster challenges, including injuries to Jack Kayil, Martin Hermannsson, and Norris Agbakoko. New center Yankuba Sima made his debut during the match.
Alba Berlin is scheduled to play Phoenix Hagen in the quarterfinals on December 12 or 13.
