Alba County implements water infrastructure upgrades
Water infrastructure projects are underway in Alba County, Romania, to improve supply stability and reduce losses. In Valea Lungă, a new 1,000 cubic meter metal water reservoir has been commissioned. This investment, totaling 1.278 million lei by operator Apa CTTA, provides 40 times more storage capacity than the previous basin, aiming to prevent water restrictions during droughts and high-consumption periods.
Simultaneously, maintenance and modernization works have begun at the Cireșu Dam in Mânzălești. The project involves a controlled draining of the accumulation lake to replace the bottom discharge valve with a modern electric gate. This intervention is part of a sustainable development program intended to increase operational safety and ensure the continuity of the water supply system. To combat high distribution losses in the area, the water company is also deploying intelligent noise loggers to detect hidden leaks within the network.
