Alba International White Truffle Fair celebrates Piedmontese gastronomy

The 96th edition of the Alba International White Truffle Fair is underway, running from October 10 to December 6. Centered in the Piedmont region of Italy, the event celebrates the Tuber magnatum Pico, a highly prized fungus. The fair serves as a global showcase for the Langhe, Roero, and Monferrato regions, which are recognized as UNESCO World Heritage sites.

Key activities include the World Truffle Market in Alba’s Maddalena courtyard, sensory analysis at the Mudet museum, and cooking demonstrations by Michelin-starred chefs. The 2026 theme, ‘Authentic Relationships,’ emphasizes the connection between the local community, the environment, and the truffle industry. Complementary events include wine tastings focusing on Barbaresco and Barolo, and specialized culinary menus at local restaurants.

In addition to the Alba festivities, the white truffle is being promoted as a tool for regional development in other parts of Italy. In Brussels, representatives presented the San Miniato White Truffle Fair to highlight how local food chains can support rural economies, tourism, and environmental preservation.
