Alba road modernization features roundabout built around utility pole

A road modernization project in Gârda de Sus, Alba County, has drawn public attention due to an unusual infrastructure arrangement. Instead of relocating an electric utility pole, contractors built the new roadway around it, creating a small concrete island that functions as an improvised roundabout.

Local residents noted that the roundabout serves no practical traffic purpose and appears to be a workaround for the obstacle. The Alba County Council has indicated that the communal road has not yet been officially received. If the construction is found to deviate from the approved building permit or technical specifications, authorities may impose fines starting at 5,000 lei to ensure the issue is remediated.
