Albacete celebrates municipal band honors and Aguas Nuevas anniversary

The Albacete Municipal Symphony Band (BSMA) has been named ‘Honorary Member 2026’ by the Castille-La Mancha Regional Federation of Music Societies. The award recognizes the ensemble's 167-year history and its cultural contribution to the region since 1859.

Albacete Mayor Manuel Serrano described the band as a ‘treasure’ for the city, noting its role in promoting local culture through various social and sporting events. The recognition coincided with Albacete hosting the National Congress of Music Societies.

In a separate local event, Mayor Serrano attended the 60th anniversary of the founding of Aguas Nuevas. The commemoration included the unveiling of a memorial monolith to honor the original settlers. The Mayor reaffirmed the city's commitment to supporting rural areas, citing annual investments exceeding one million euros and recent land allocations for a new senior residence.
