Albacete court upholds compensation for worker assaulted at care center

The High Court of Justice of Castilla-La Mancha has upheld a compensation ruling of 8,057.74 euros for a worker at a public disability care center in Albacete. The worker had originally sought over 329,000 euros in damages following an assault by a service user in August 2018.

During the incident, the user struck the employee in the forehead, resulting in facial contusions and subsequent cervical issues that required medical intervention and surgery in 2020. The court dismissed the worker's appeal, maintaining the original sentence which holds the Castilla-La Mancha Social Welfare Department liable, with direct civil responsibility assigned to its insurer, Allianz.
