Albacete Fair mobile unit handles 254 sexual violence inquiries

The Government of Castilla-La Mancha deployed a mobile unit from the ‘Red Hay Amparo’ network to the Albacete Fair to provide assistance and information regarding sexual violence. During its weekend deployment at Plaza del Altozano and the José Copete stadium, the midibús handled 254 inquiries.

Of these, 247 were requests for information, while seven involved direct interventions with women reporting past experiences of sexual or gender-based violence. The initiative is part of ongoing regional policies to prevent and address sexual violence, which the government defines as any act committed against a person's sexual freedom without consent.

In addition to the mobile unit, the campaign included the distribution of 42,000 recyclable cups under the slogan ‘Zero sexual assaults, infinite fun. Respect my cup.’ These were provided to the Association of Hoteliers for distribution across fair stalls and local establishments. Albacete also maintains a year-round rapid response center and a 24-hour telephone assistance line.
