Albacete hikers complete inaugural Cambrón-Calar-Melojos trek
Thirty-five hikers completed the first edition of the Cambrón, Pico Calar, and Torca de los Melojos trek, an initiative organized by the Diputación de Albacete. The two-day journey covered approximately 37 kilometers through the Sierra de Alcaraz and parts of the Calares del Mundo y de la Sima Natural Park.
The trek was divided into two stages with medium-high technical difficulty. The first day involved a 19-kilometer stretch with over 1,100 meters of positive elevation gain, passing through the Puntal de la Escaleruela, the Calar plain, and the Pozo Romero stone structure before reaching the 1,632-meter Calar peak. Participants also traversed the Melojos oak forest, which contains trees over 500 years old.
The second day consisted of roughly 18 kilometers with 750 meters of elevation gain. The event aimed to promote the natural and cultural landscapes of the Albacete and Jaén provinces.
