Albacete Metal Sector Workers Secure 10.5% Wage Increase and Reduced Hours
The CCOO, UGT FICA unions and the employers' association signed a new three‑year collective bargaining agreement for the metal sector in Albacete, covering more than 8,000 workers. The deal provides a 3.5% wage rise each year from 2026 to 2028, totalling a 10.5% increase, with a clause that allows up to a 1% adjustment if inflation exceeds expectations.
The agreement also reduces the annual working time by eight hours, setting the yearly total at 1,772 hours for 2027 and 1,768 hours for 2028. A commission will be created to study workplace hazards, toxicity and difficult conditions, as well as to regulate guard duties and travel. The contract will be updated to align with current labour legislation.
