Albacete promotes cycling tourism with Gran Fondo announcement

The Diputación de Albacete has officially presented the sixth edition of the Gran Fondo Ciclodeportiva Internacional Sierra de Albacete. Organized by the Club Ciclista Onturense, the event is scheduled for April 17, 2027.

The upcoming edition aims to accommodate up to 2,350 participants and will feature a new route including previously unseen areas. The event is part of a broader strategic effort by local authorities to establish the province of Albacete as a premier destination for cycling tourism in Spain.

Santiago Cabañero, President of the Diputación, emphasized that the Gran Fondo is a key component in consolidating the region's reputation for sports tourism. The presentation included representatives from the Women in Bike project, local mayors, and officials from the Club Ciclista Onturense.
